ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC – A visual celebration
Inspired by the connected ÅFRÖSWÈ̩DÉ̩ photography project which was shortlisted for the Global Peace Photo Award, ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC visualizes and celebrates what integration feels like, when we can seamlessly blend all facets of our identities without having to choose one or the other.
ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC addresses an urgent need for nuanced cultural and social discourse in the Nordic region. Assimilation demands the erasure or suppression of parts of oneself, while integration allows for the seamless coexistence of multiple identities.
This photography project fosters empathy, compassion, and understanding between people. It pulls on our shared human experience of belonging, vulnerability from exclusion, and collective responsibility as one human race.
Beyond visually depicting this, it creates a space for meaningful dialogue by celebrating our interconnectedness.
